About the workshop
The 4-days weekend workshop is organized by IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation and IIT Mandi. The workshop motivated executives and working professionals willing to work in Al/ML. Extensive theory sessions, lab sessions were planned with an assessment at the end of the workshop based on which certificates will be provided. During lab sessions, support will be provided by specifically trained teaching assistants (PhD students). This workshop mainly targets software engineers and executives. However, final year undergraduates/masters/PhD level, and faculty members: may also find it very beneficial. A basic minimum in Linear Algebra, Python, Machine Learning, and Probability Theory is expected as a prerequisite for better understanding.
Objective and Scope
Machine learning has emerged as a major research area due to its effectiveness in solving real-world problems. This workshop was designed to deliver both the mathematical foundations of machine learning and its applications. Hence, this workshop was useful to those familiar with the basics of machine learning but seeks an effective refresher on its mathematical foundations and an in-depth look at some of its applications. The team of national and international experts from academia delivered towards these objectives and provide a unique short program that can benefit a diverse audience from industry and academia. The workshop topics were as follows: Probability and Statistics Linear Algebra and Information Measures Optimization and Algorithms Basics of Machine Learning CNN and Autoencoders Adversarial Machine, Learning Lab Sessions on FC, CNN, AE, and GAN.
